The difference between a usable 4G/5G connection and a frustrating one is almost always antenna placement. An indoor router on a windowsill might show two bars; a properly aligned external antenna on the same building can multiply your speeds. We run a signal survey across the available networks, identify the strongest usable mast and band, mount a directional antenna where it performs best, and configure the router properly. It depends entirely on your location — the best network in one glen is the worst in the next. We survey signal from all the major UK networks at your property before recommending anything, and we’re independent, so we’ve no incentive to steer you to one operator. You pay your data subscription directly to the network you choose.
Usually a dramatic one. Walls, glass coatings and roof materials all attenuate mobile signal, and indoor routers can’t choose which mast they hear. A directional external antenna, aligned at the strongest mast on the right band, routinely turns a marginal connection into a fast, stable one. It’s the single biggest improvement available for rural 4G/5G.
Yes — failover is one of our most requested installs. We configure a router that monitors your main connection and switches to 4G/5G automatically within seconds of a fault, then switches back when service returns. Staff often don’t notice the changeover. It’s inexpensive insurance against losing card payments, email and cloud systems.
It varies with signal strength, network load and how far you are from the mast, so we won’t quote a number until we’ve surveyed your site. As a guide, a well-installed 4G connection often delivers tens of Mbps, and 5G considerably more where available. Our post-install speed test shows you exactly what you’re getting.
Often better than people expect. Masts in rural Scotland are lightly loaded, so where there’s signal, speeds can be excellent. We’re based in the Western Isles, so we know coverage in hard-to-reach places — and we’ll tell you honestly if 4G/5G isn’t viable at your site and satellite is the better option.
Yes — you’ll need a data SIM or plan from your chosen mobile network, paid directly to them. We’ll advise on suitable unlimited or high-allowance plans during the survey, supply and install the hardware, and set everything up so it just works.
